what are my options?

I dropped my Mac book pro into apple today with the invoice I received at the time of purchase. Not the original receipt as they sell refurbished apple products.

now I’m being asked to get the original!!

why is t the invoice from the reseller valid and how do I get the original with knowing anything about the person who owned it before me

seems extremely ridiculous

receipt

If you purchased your Mac from Apple, you can request a receipt from the retail location. We also recommend checking your email for a copy of the receipt. Here’s how to locate the Apple Store and their contact information: Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple https://www.apple.com/retail/

If your purchase was made at the Apple Online Store, please view the section titled “View or Print Invoice” here: Viewing & Changing Orders - Shopping Help - Apple https://www.apple.com/shop/help/viewing_changing_orders

If your mac was purchased from an Apple Authorized Reseller, we recommend contacting them directly for a receipt.

🤦🏽‍♀️ Thank you genius.

As my laptop isn’t stolen, as I have the invoice from the seller.

my only mistake I have made here was purchasing a second hand laptop as I wasn’t able to purchase one brand new.

I guess anyone could have written a receipt. Even a thief when he sold the stolen Mac to you. No one said you stole the computer. Maybe it was stolen from me then sold to you. Maybe the fact that you can't access the data is a good thing from my point of view. I don't have to be a genius to know that stolen Macs are often sold. It would kind of defeat the purpose of the firmware lock if anyone could bypass it.
