How to remove defunct chrome apps from launcher and the computer in general?

How do you remove defunct/deactivated Chrome apps from the computer completely? THey are like malware that's impossible to remove. If you run them they don't run (and there is no message, they just bounce once in the task bar and then close). If you try to drag them to trash it doesn't work. If you look for them in the Applications directory, they aren't there. If you hold the mouse button on them, the little (X) does not pop up that would let you delete other apps. They do not appear at chrome://apps or chrome://extensions opened in Chrome. Truly awful.

These aren't apps or they would be in the Applications folder. it sounds like you may be describing some malware. I would download install and run the free app Malwarebytes. It is excellent at removing most malware. It causes no harm and will not slow down your computer. You can activate and run it periodically as needed. I hope that does it for you.
