Wireless Keyboard Keeps Losing Connection

Batteries at 100%. It's paired successfully. Mouse is wired. Keyboard works and then randomly pops up as not connected and then connected again, sometimes seconds or minutes later. Sometimes after pressing the side button, or not. I see lots of people having the same exact issue more than a decade ago. Please please someone tell me there's a fix. I can't work like this. But I bought a new desk that works best space-wise with a wireless keyboard. I use a laptop but use the keyboard like this with a large Apple monitor. Help!
