mail folders disappeared!

All of our On My Mac mail folders have disappeared.

I do a search for an email I know was in one of the disappeared folders and it is found, but where are all my folders?! We're talking years of organization. Freaking out a little. Please help!

We are running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7.

Well, I found a post by chscag in 2016 that said this (& saved the day for me!!):

Very gently and slowly bring your mouse cursor (or trackpad) to the

right side of the column where your mail and folders are. You will see a

small + sign appear beside your mailbox. Further on down to your

subfolders doing the same thing, the word "hide" will appear. ;D If

you accidentally click on that, your subfolders on your Mac mail folder

will disappear! If that happens, just bring the cursor back and select

"show" or "unhide".

I would have deleted my above post... but can't figure out how!
