Apple Watch Unresponsive - Series 6

Last night I was charging my Apple Watch Series 6 after a low battery (10%) indication. A short while later I noticed an update was available for the Apple Watch. I chose to install the update since my Apple Watch was charging. A short while later, I received a message that my watch was fully charged. I went to put the watch on before bed and it was unresponsive. When I took it off the charger I only got a red bolt and the time and only when I pushed the dial button. When I placed it back on the charger, the Apple logo would show on the screen and fade in and out until the watch went back to the green bolt in a circle and the time. However, this was not the normal charging screen. I cannot get the watch to respond to anything, including a force restart. It doesn't appear to be connecting to my iPhone. I did go ahead and continue to charge the watch overnight using the cable that was provided with the watch. I tried 3 separate charging blocks as well. A side note, when I check the Updates on my Watch app on my iPhone it just spins...probably because it cannot connect to the watch. I am thinking I will have to take it to the Genius Bar. It is brand new. Just a month old.

You have interrupted the watchOS update.

Let it charge for an hour then

Unpair Apple Watch

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap My Watch, then tap All Watches at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap  next to the Apple Watch you want to unpair, then tap Unpair Apple Watch.

Then try pair again.

This is what I thought happened. I did not realize the watch was still installing the watch OS update when I removed it from the charger last night. The watch has actually been charging for over an hour. My husband did Unpair the Apple Watch from my phone. We cannot get the watch to respond to try pairing it again. It just stays on the red bolt and time. It will not go away when the watch is removed from the charger no matter how long it seems to be charging. The watch also will NOT force restart.

Thank you for your suggestion. This is the direction we are leaning in.

I agree on the surface this seems to be the issue. This is what I thought it might be after researching last night. However, it doesn't appear to be the issue. I charged the watch for over 8 hours. Still no luck. Unfortunately, we cannot get the watch to force restart. It appears to be unresponsive to everything.

Thank you.

If you can’t access the Settings app on your Apple Watch because you’ve forgotten your passcode, put your Apple Watch on its charger, then press and hold the side button until you see Power Off. Press and hold the Digital Crown, then tap Reset.

After the reset finishes and your Apple Watch restarts, you need to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone again—open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then follow the instructions shown on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
