I was updating my 1st gen iPad Pro 11' to iPadOS 14.4 and now I have a black screen that will not turn on. I tried everything in HT201412 with no fix. My iPad was working just fine up until the update process bricked it. What can I do?

LotusPilot, what you responded with is what is in HT201412 as noted in my question as not working. I was hoping someone could suggest something else other than what I already tried. Anyone else have a suggestion?
Okay, if you tried everything in the linked page, you’ll be able to share with us the information provided to you by Apple Support when you contacted them... this being the final step at the end of the procedure.

Apple Support asked me to bring it in to a store to see if they could figure out some way to un-brick it. I live 120 miles from the nearest Apple Store and we're in the middle of a blizzard right now so that's not a great option. What I'm set up to do is send it in for a repair or replacement for a little more than $500. I was hoping for something better than that since it was working great up until I tried to update to iPadOS 14.4. Needless to say I have heard nothing beyond "it must have been a hardware issue that was triggered by the update" and is therefore my problem as I don't have Apple Care on it. I've had more and more issues with Apple products that aren't covered by warranty so I'm looking harder at Apple Care but that sure runs up the cost for already expensive products.
How might I do that if it will not turn on? I can't get the iPad to do anything. It is just a nice black slab of glass and aluminum that won't respond to any combination of button pushing.
Update 14.4 freezes friends screen. Turn right off in plug, turn on. MIGHT help.
I would “reset” the device back to factory settings and start again.
iPadOS 14.4 bricked my iPad Pro.
