Driver hp laserjet CP1025 Big sur

I had a conversation on the forum of HP regarding a problem with the update to Big Sur.

My printer hp laserjet CP1025 doesn't work on BBig Sur

It seems that there are not Driver to use the printer that have 5 years (not so old...)

Have the community some advise regarding this point?

Hp point of view is your System it's too new for the printer... change it or buy another printer...

that's awefoul.

Hi Viag43. I`m a chinese it engineer, I have a LaserJet CP1025 color printer too same like you. When I change Macbook M1 Air, my printer doesn't work either :( Finally I succeeded After I failed hundreds of times . You need download two software and just do exactly what I said

  1. https://pacifist.en.softonic.com/mac it can help you extract and install so many drivers of HP printers
  2. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-cp1025-color-printer-series/4052955 you can download the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg from this page, but reminder chose macOS 10.12 system it`s very important. (MD5: eb70ff5ad0ceb9f8a64e23836bcb2e9e HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg)
  3. Open the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg with Pacifist and click install , Always choose to overwrite when prompted by the system during installation
  4. Connect your CP1025 usb cable and open system configuration, open printer and scanner ,then click “+” in the lower left corner, filter driver software which named “HP LaserJet 1022, 1.6.1” and install it, then you will be very happy :)

I think it`s a bug, and I don`t konw why are Apple and HP not actively working to solve it :( I can only use the Chinese system to take two important screenshots for you, I hope that all people like us can finally use HP LaserJet CP1025 normally in the MacOS big sur , good luck :)

I am sorry you are having this problem. There are some options. If you will bear with me, I will offer some things to consider. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant printer driver must be installed as you have found out. Experience has shown that many printer manufacturers are very slow to provide updated drivers. Drivers for some older printers are never provided. (Apparently, they prefer to sell new printers.) What we can do is to thoroughly check the printer web site for an updated driver that works. Some people have reported that when a Big Sur driver was not available, they were able to use a Catalina driver and it did work. It is worth trying. If one is not available, then we should ask when one will be released. If that doesn't work, if your Printer has the Air Print feature, that can be used and no driver will be needed. If not, then you can check the web site below where volunteers write drivers for older printers which are no longer supported, but which work with newer operating systems. It is worth checking out. Good luck.

Hi,

HP's support page for the HP LaserJet Pro CP1025 Color Printer has a reference to HP Easy Start when macOS 11.0 is chosen

If nothing else helps, you may want to check whether the (Dec 11, 2020) updated HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS package download from Apple at https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US would work. To begin with, reset the printing system. Verify that your printer is recognised. Is there an appropriate driver to use (perhaps something like the HP LaserJet CP1025, or another similar HP printer)? Look upon this as an experiment. It may not work. There is always a certain risk involved with an experiment. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out. Data may be lost. A hardware problem is unlikely, but it is impossible to guarantee anything. Make sure that you have multiple backup copies of important files before you start.
