Shortcut Keys | Today's Date

I regularly use the shortcut keys for the current date: Command, Shift, 'D'.

However, my date preferences for year, month, date have recently defaulted to month, date, year. The preferences for this command is not in Time and Date. Does anyone know how to reset preferences for this shortcut?

This certainly is not the default key combination. I never heard of a date and time shortcut..Maybe something in Accessibility if you are sight impaired.

Hi Kerabu,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you have some questions about keyboard shortcuts. We're happy to provide some information to help.

We want to share a couple of resources with you. The first one offers some great information about available shortcuts. The second link below goes over creating your own shortcut, and may help you resolve issues with the date formatting incorrectly. You can also find some helpful information about resolving conflicts between existing shortcuts.

Thanks for reaching out to me with this information. However, my question is still unresolved.

  1. I have reviewed the current list of Mac keyboard shortcuts but do not see an existing shortcut for date insertions.
  2. I have tried to create a shortcut with the standard 'Command,' 'Shift,' and 'D' keys ... without success.

Do you have any other suggestions??

Thank you for your reply.

An Apple rep just advised me that Command + Shift + 'D' is the shortcut for opening the desktop folder. I didn't know this shortcut and it does indeed open my desktop folder.

I do use the date in the menu bar as an ongoing reference. However, my specific question is how to 'date stamp' notes, e.g. in MS Word and other apps (e.g. Evernote). I still don't have a clear answer if Apple functionality has a shortcut for 'date stamping.'
