When I try to listen to audio on a WhatsApp voice note, the screen goes black, the sound comes from the earpiece and I can't hear it through the speakers. How do I fix it?

Hello bineesheramangalam,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We'd love to help and point you in the right direction to ensure WhatsApp works without issue. If we determine your iPhone is otherwise working as expected, we may refer to the app developer directly.

First, please follow the steps here to help fix this issue: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Try testing another app and see if you can hear through the speakers. For instance, try to make a phone call with the Phone app. Can you hear from the speaker?

Open the Voice Memo app on your iPhone, and make a recording. Do you hear it when you play it back?

If you're experiencing the same thing with those apps, follow this: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

At that point, if you've verified there is no issue with the Phone and Voice Memos app, but continues with WhatsApp, contact the app developer using the steps listed here: How to contact an app developer

We're here for you if you've got any questions.

Have a great day!
