My copy of Google Earth is displaying the error "...detected an error while trying to authenticate."
Is says "please check 1. network connection and 2. firewall settings. Both are fine - I tried adding Google Earth.app to the list of allowed connections - no result. This problem has appeared very recently with no obvious reason. Have Google "pulled the plug"?

The link you gave me (thanks) goes to a very uninformative page. If you chose the Google Earth Pro option all you get is "Launch" - no download. Is it the intension that Google only provides the service through a browser now? Previously you downloaded an app (program in old money) that gave you the tools.

Ok, its free.
The only links I have found are "Google Earth on Web", ditto on moblie and "Google Earth Pro on desktop. I choose the last and that has one button: "Launch". I press that and I get an online version that has a notice at the top left corner which says "You are currently running an experimental version of Earth". Is that it? Or is there another link I've missed?
Is Google in the process of ditching the old version in favour of an online version?
