Asus Ax88u is my main router and I want to extend my network with ethernet to a bridged AirPort Extreme. The Asus router will have two separate networks, 2.4 and 5GHZ with same password. Do I need to set up the separate 5GHz on the AirPort Extreme.

The setup of the AirPort is a bit tricky for some users, because you must first set up the AirPort to use only one name for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and then later go back into the settings in AirPort Utility to adjust the settings again to match the names of the network that the Asus router is using.

Please note that WiFi devices may or may not automatically switch to the router with the strongest signal as they move about the house. Macs will usually do this pretty well. iPhones and iPads, not so much....but they are getting better about this.

Thanks Bob. Everything working correctly with you information. After initial setup of bridged AirPort Extremes, went back and setup the option of 5Ghz on each bridged router to match the main Asus router 5Ghz ssid.

Are your iPhones and iPads.....if you have them.....automatically switching to pick up the strongest signal from the closest WiFi access point as they move from one end of the house to the other?
