Air Print

Maybe this has already been brought up but I just tried printing an email from my iPhone to my HP Deskjet 2655 (less than a year old) and I kept getting some sort of error. The error was that there were no Air Printers that could be found in order to print. So, I did a little research and it just so happens that I have to literally disconnect my iPhone from my WIFI to connect to my printer, then I can print! Well then I have to disconnect from the printer in order to reconnect my WIFI. Does anybody else find this EXTREMELY inconvenient and a little redundant? Why can't we just print from our iPhones the same way we used to? By selecting print and then our phone would find a nearby wireless printer, you would select the one you want and hit print. Simple and easy. Am I crazy and the only one who sees the issue here because I tried looking it up online to see if there was a way around it and I can't find it. Please help.
