Yes, you can buy AppleCare for your product through Apple.
As many Apple users have products that are older than a year and they automatically lose their included 1-year warranty, they can extend their coverage by purchasing a new Applecare+ or AppleCare Protection plan.
If you buy a new (first-hand) Apple product through a different website you will still receive your included 1-year Apple warranty as it is a new and verified Apple Product.
