Mouse problems with Big Sur

Installed Big Sur on an iMac purchased new in 2016 and when the system booted up for the first time, my mouse no longer tracks properly. It varies on being inches up from the arrow to inches to the left. Very confusing and hard to function.

Is there a fix?

Try the following a couple of tines in succession: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support .

If that a doesn't help boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists.  Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Also have you installed or run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps on your Mac?
