USB C port on Magic keyboard doesn’t work

Hi I purchased the iPad Pro 13 inch and magic keyboard in the summer and everything is great except the USB C port on the keyboard doesn’t work for the apogee microphone or charging my phone or anything at all it seams to be in powered, so I went online to view if that was normal and I found out it wasn’t so I was wondering if you could help me figure out how to go about exchanging it for a new one? Since I bought it in Vancouver at the apple store and there is no apple store in Victoria where I am in hospital unable to go to the apple store in Vancouver....if you could help I would appreciate it thank you
