Ransomware Attac

Just got an EMAIL with the claim, somebody was aware of my password- in fact it was an real old one and out of use- anyway it was creepy.

In the Mail I was threatened and asked to make a deposit so my HD would not be encrypted.

I had opened this email on my iPhone and after perhaps 5 seconds (I was not even able to memorize or read it in full or make a copy) it disappeared without trace.

I have no clue, whether this was a feature of this Email - recognizing the wrong hardware or done by iOS recognizing malware.

Can somebody help me out?

First of all, it’s a scam. While some ransomware attacks are real, most are scams designed to panic people into handing over money or access to their devices. They often look authentic just because they’ve managed to find some old password that got revealed in a data leak at some point, which makes you think that they know a lot more about you than they do.
