“Invite” to Home app not working

I’m attempting to add my wife to the Home app so we can use the new intercom feature with our phones, Apple watches and the new HomePod mini we’ve just got.

It just says “invitation pending” but nothing is happening on my wife’s iPhone. I’ve invited her using her iCloud email address, the @me.com address and her phone number and all just say “Invite pending”.

All devices mentioned have been updated to latest software.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it still isn't working after following those steps. I'd actually already followed those steps prior to posting here, but thought I'd try again in case I'd missed something or done something wrong.

The Home app settings on my iPhone still just says invite pending (see attached) and nothing comes through on my wifes iPhone.

There is also another issue with intercom... I'm able to use intercom from my iPhone to the HomePod mini, and it works just fine. But if I try to do it the other way round it wont work (HomePod Mini to my iPhone).

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand your wife is unable to accept an invitation to the Home app. We'll be happy to help.


We suggest to verify that each user completed the section of this article that says, "Before you begin": Share control of your home These are the requirements needed to use the Home app, along with receiving the invitation.
