Speaker on iPhone randomly turns off

My iPhone 12 randomly turns itself off in the middle of a conversation. I have not had Wifi Calling turned on. I think this just started with the last OS update.

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

This did not solve my problem. The key word is RANDOM loss of speaker sound, like in the middle of a conversation. I'm beginning to suspect it is caused by static electricity.

Thanks for that information. Let's make sure this isn't being caused by the Attention Awareness feature on your iPhone 12. Follow the steps here to check, and disable this if needed:

It only happens when I'm on a iPhone telephone call. I never use headsets on phone calls (why would I? I'm using the speaker on the iPhone). The sound when I'm playing music never fails.

Thanks for the follow-up info. Are you having this trouble only on phone calls? Does the speaker ever lose sound while playing music or a video? Does this ever happen while using a headset or headphones? Get back to us with that info, and we can go from there.
