Yes, if you are using a VPN, you will need to remove it. A VPN or other security software could prevent your devices from properly communicating with the update servers.

I have tried this and more without success. When pairing, my phone (6S +, iOS version 14.4) says there is an update for Watch but it cannot be completed because I’m not connected to the internet. This is a farce because it is. I chatted with support to troubleshoot for about an hour to no avail. I’m beyond frustrated. Question: what is the VPN and is there any relevance to it and my problem?
I believe, somehow there is a component related to the watch that is missing from my phone. I am connected to the internet as well as internet radio, yet the msg continues to be that the required update cannot be completed because my phone is not connected to the internet. Is this a common problem? If not, what do you suggest?
