Where is the download progress displayed for iOS Restore file (IPSW) on Big Sur?

Trying to do a restore on an iPad Pro using Big Sur Finder. Started out with a download progress bar on bottom of page until the iPad in restore mode shut down (timeout of some sort?). Every time I reconnect iPad and put it in restore mode, Finder displays message Mac is downloading the file, but the progress bar is a constant grey/white candy cane display taking up entire length of screen. No indication of progress. Started going to (user)/library/iTunes and doing Get Info on the iPad ipsw file. Each time I display it after connecting iPad in restore mode, it has progressed, but does not progress again until I disconnect iPad, reconnect, go to restore mode, and do Get Info again. On previous MacOS versions using iTunes, the iPad listing on the Finder sidebar had a circular progress indicator.
