What can you do when the disk for Big sur is being encrypted and will not let you install it? But you already downloaded it.

Unable to update to Big Sur 11.6 I have been trying to update to Big Sur 11.6 but it keeps failing on a step where it is attempting to update the boot sector. I think its because my disk is encrypted but thats just a guess. I get prompted for the disk password, I enter it, then it reverts. :(
