Quicktime Player "Export As" Options Greyed Out for MP4 Video from Sony A7iii

So let me ask again:

For the past few years, I've been using the "Export As" option in Quicktime to convert 4K videos to HD. Recently, after upgrading to Catalina, all of the "File -> Export As" options are now greyed out in Quicktime.

I know that these options can be greyed out for files with DRM, but my files are personal MP4 videos direct from my Sony A7iii camera.

Not only that, but I used to be able to do a quick trim of the videos in Finder by pressing space bar and clicking on the trim icon, but even that has disappeared since my upgrade to Catalina.

Does anybody know how I can get these functionalities back?

Hello ajtlee,

It sounds like you are unable to export a 4K video and use the space bar to trim a video in QuickTime.

Here are some resources that might help:

Review Export movies to other file formats and resolutions using QuickTime Player on Mac it is the case that "If you don’t see any options available in the Export menu, it may be because the recording is copyright-protected and can’t be distributed."

To try to isolate it create a quick video with a different device, Take a photo or record a video in Photo Booth on Mac, and see if you are able to export it with QuickTime Player.
Test an imported video from your Sony camera that does not include any music if you haven't already.

When it comes to trimming a video, check out Keyboard shortcuts and gestures in QuickTime Player on Mac. You can use Command-T to quickly trim a video.
