my 12 day old iphone 11pro had faulty mic and apple repair centre says it has unauthorised modifications. how is this possible?


Before asking me to handover device for repair, the diagnostic report was shared with me which reported an issue with bottom left mic enclosure. Later, they sent me an email saying -

Device was sent to Apple India -Bangalore, they found unauthorised modifications and hence return the device to customer...

This is so disturbing...

The seller is in Dubai...

  1. 12 day phone with unauthorised modifications? What kind of modifications; encrypted files or tampering...
  2. Why did it register me online from the date of purchase? When I switched on the device after unpacking; it registered my international warranty from the date of purchase; I went online and registered myself.
  3. there are endless questions weighing on my mind; even if I would have identified this problem in Dubai; Apple care would have taken some steps to solve my problem ‘because it’s under international warranty.
  4. I have been associated with Apple since 15years and this is the first time I have reported them a problem that too within 12 days of the purchase.
  5. I & my husband have two iPads, two iPhones and iPhone 11 pro is a fourth device to be added to my family.

I still haven’t lost faith in the system; I am sure Apple would take care of this... they have forwarded my request to engineering team.

Will update my post shortly.
