How do I update to macOS 10.14 or later?

I recently installed turbo tax deluxe 2020 and when I try to open it I get this error message, "You have macOS 10.13.6. The application requires macOS 10.14 or later." and it won't open. My MacBook pro has the latest software update. How do I update to macOS 10.14 or later?

MacBook Pro, OS X 10.10
