Apple Music Recently Played List differs between iPhone and Carplay

Hi,

When I look at the Recently Played List under the "Listen Now" tab on my iPhone, I get an always recent/updated list of recently played albums/songs.

But when I am in my car and connect the iPhone via Carplay, the recently played list under "For You" is not the same anymore and it seems like the list is not getting updated correctly and is not showing all the tracks, in particular not the recent tracks.

Just noticed, that this list is as well different in Apple Music under the "For You" tab on my Mac. But I have configured all devices to sync libraries.

Any idea how this can be? Is this a configuration issue?

Hi there toffix,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like your Music app on the iPhone has correct “Recently Played” information, but in CarPlay and in Music on your Mac it is not updating the way that you would expect. It will not show songs in progress in your Recently Played list, only music played in the past. Does it make a difference if you restart your iPhone?

Thanks for the additional information. Do you use the Music widget on your iPhone? If so, does the Music widget show the same as CarPlay, or does it show the correct information from the Music app?

Hi Leanne,

Yes, on the iPhone, Recently Played under ""Listen Now" shows the correct albums, but when using the same phone with CarPlay in my car, the Recently Played info under "Listen Now" in the CarPlay UI does not show the same info, in fact it does not shows the more recent tracks (even after a reboot of the phone).

The same is true for the Music App on my Macbook. The Recently Played list under "Listen Now" is outdated and in fact seems to be the same outdated list as on CarPlay. For me, this is really not understandable. It seems like there are two different recently played lists on the iPhone, depending on if the list is accessed via the Phone UI or via the CarPlay UI.
