Muliple playstation 4's port forwarding

So i have 3 PS4 at home, all hard wired to my Extreme. I do get network drop outs on all my PS4 when playing online games. Mainly COD, FIFA and GTA, sometimes Minecraft.

So i thought of port forwarding, setting static IP, using google severs etc,,,,

But i cant seem to set this up. Works for 1 PS4, but if i try another one i get told 'cant use as this setup already exists.' Surly they're is way to port forward for all 3 of my PS4's

I thought because of the static IP, it should know when and where to send data to?

Do i need to setup DCHP reservations aswell??

So how would I do that?

The only way is a router that has UPNP that conforms to Microsoft standard.

You cannot setup hard port forwarding in this case. It won't work.

Your Extreme is not usable in this scenario.. Apple use NAT-PMP to do the same thing as UPNP but it only works for Apple products.

IPv6 should also help although I don't game so unsure of all the related issues.

There are lots of websites with info.. just search best router for multiple ps4 or game consoles.

Here is one I googled beforehand.. hundreds of sites available.

There is, if each PS4 can be configured to use different port numbers. For example, PS4 One uses port 8885. PSF Two uses port 8886, Three uses 8887 and Four uses 8888. Separate Static IP or Reserved IP addresses must be used for each PS4.

Check with the PS4 product support folks.

Bottom line.....the same port number cannot be forwarded to multiple devices.

As we already stated........Check with the PS4 Support folks........to ask them how to handle multiple PS4s on the same network.

You already have one PS4 set up with a Static IP or Reserved IP address and the port numbers required for that device. Set up the other two PS4s separately with a different Static IP or Reserved IP address that is associated with the different port numbers that the second and third PS4 will be using.

Expect the PS4 Support folks to try to blame your router. Don't fall for that trick.

It's a shame that you could not get an honest answer from the support folks at PS4.

You need a "simple modem".......the kind with only one Ethernet port. This type of device will operate in "Bridge Mode" by default automatically.

Try to match the same manufacturer with both the modem and router. For example, if you choose a Netgear gaming router, choose a Netgear modem.

Why? If you have a modem and router from different manufacturers and you have any issues, the router manufacturer will blame the modem......and the modem manufacturer will blame the router.

Avoid any kind of "modem/router" or "gateway"........a device that is both a modem and a router in one package. If you have this type of device, you will have to configure it to operate only as a modem.......if that is possible. Some modem/routers or gateways cannot be set up to operate only as a simple modem.

Good luck!

The support guy's answer seems to assume that you have a UPnP router. Apple routers are not UPnP routers.

He still did not answer the question of whether it was possible to configure 3 different PS4s to use 3 different sets of ports.

Surely, PS4 Support can provide you with a list of "compatible" or "recommended" routers to use with their PS4.

Another way to ask the same question would be....."What are the specific requirements for a router to work with multiple PS4s on the same network?"
