So I found an iPad and when I contacted the actual owner they said to keep It because she had much more. She was far away and with a passcode, how do I unlock it without me knowing the passcode?
Not possible. The iPad Passcode cannot be recovered; the iPad must be “restored” - and in so doing will trigger an Activation Lock which will require the AppleID and associated password of the original owner.
If you are in-touch with the original owner, with their cooperation, the Activation Lock can be removed. The owner will require this information:
Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
Turn off Activation Lock – Apple Support
