Earphone sound low but speakers fine

The sound from my earphone is so muffled and low I can’t hear others during phone calls. They can hear me fine. When the sound is on speakerphone, it is fine. I have cleaned it all, followed all the recommended steps. Apple were meant to call but never did. Not sure what to do
