Samsung CLX 3185FN support with Mac OS Big Sur

Hi,

Since my update to Mac OS Big Sur, I'm unable to print in color with my Samsung CLX 3185FN, black and white is the only option available.

Samsung seems not provide any new driver.

How can I solve my problem ?

Regards.

Sébastien.

Samsung sold their printer division to Hewlett-Packard several years ago, so any driver support would come from HP. And it appears that the last flurry of software downloads for this device (but no explicit driver) was for High Sierra/Mojave.

This color laser is not supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint, and without contemporary product support from HP, you may be stuck with monochrome printing. However, something to try…

With the laser printer powered on, visit System Preferences > Printers & Scanners panel, and right-click on the CLX-3185FN Printers entry. Select Reset printing system… and re-add the printer by selecting the Samsung drivers again. Once re-added, see if you have restored color printing.

Without current driver support from HP specifically intended for macOS 11.* (Big Sur), you may be stuck on monochrome printing, or the existing driver functionality may break with future releases of macOS.

Do you have a toner remaining indicator in your Printers & Scanners Options & Supplies panel? You might power off your Laser, remove your laser toner cartridges, give each a good shake, and then reinsert them, and power it up again. Although I have a Samsung Laser here, it is a 1200 dpi monochrome unit.
