Epsom DS-50000 scanner with new drivers for use with Big Sur

Hi guys.

I was wondering if anyone has dealt with running an Epsom scanner with the new drivers after upgrading to Big Sur.

I've got two issues.

I got the new drivers installed, but the scans, which used to be fantastic, are now coming out with huge amounts of contrast and way over-saturated. I'm gradually pulling it back by juggling the scan settings and photoshop, but frankly, the results just aren't as good - they look, well, cheap. Has anyone had the same and found a fix?

Secondly, until I installed the new Epsom drivers, Big Sur was working fine - spent the day painting with a large file, full of layers and really pushed the system with no issues. But since adding the new drivers, I'm finding all sorts of apps are hanging when I open them - even finder. I've had to use the dreaded Cmd+alt+esc several times, and even then once even that didn't work. Clearly the drivers are causing issues, and again, I was wondering if anyone has found a solution, which doesn't involve hurling rocks at the screen and shouting lots.

Should I just give up and install a previous OS? Or would that just cause more problems?

Sorry for the involved question!

Luke.

Epson released an Uninstaller v1.3.1 in Dec 2020. You might consider using that to (hopefully) uninstall the current Epson DS5000 drivers. Once that is done, you can either use the paid, 64-bit VueScan Professional which driver the Workforce DS-5000 without any Epson software or drivers needed, or you can just install the Jan 2021 Epson ICA (Image Capture) drivers and start over to see if you have more stability and scan aesthetics.
