Apple TV+ Family Sharing - Subscription not working

Hi everyone,


Was hoping someone may have a solution for this. I recently purchased an iPad which came with the 1yr free access to Apple TV+. In addition, I was able to share this with family. The subscription is working fine for me, but for my family member it does not seem to see it. Instead they are told to sign up for a 7 day trial. They should be able to access the same subscription as I do.


What is the fix for this please?

Hi Eric,


Unfortunately the link you have sent through does not contain any useful information for my problem.


  • My Family Sharing is enabled
  • I have added the family member
  • I have shared Apple TV+ (It is listed under "SHARED WITH YOUR FAMILY"


My family member's Apple account is not seeing my Apple TV+ subscription. What am I missing here? This should be a lot simpler than it is.

Thank you Eric for showing us exactly what we could have googled. You’d think if the Apple help articles actually helped us fix our problem, we wouldn’t be here asking this question.


I am having the same exact issue, and nowhere in your linked help article has helped me come to a solution. Please let us know if you have any actual solutions, and remember we can also search the Apple help articles.

Adding another user by their Apple ID account is half of it. Then they have to accept the invitation.

Group members have to be in the same country, in order to be able to join.

If they created a new Apple ID account, then that has to be confirmed for email, complete for personal information, including a payment method (or marked ‘None’).


My family member's Apple account is not seeing my Apple TV+ subscription.

On what device are they attempting to see Apple TV+? They have to sign in to the Apple device or the Apple TV app with the same Apple ID account as they used for Family Sharing.


That is all there is to it. There aren’t other steps. Shareable subscriptions are shared automatically in Family Sharing groups. The issue may be on their side.
