Apple warns people with medical devices that may be affected by magnetic fields about their MagSafe devices -> About the magnets inside iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and MagSafe accessories - Apple Support

But the magnet is integral to the device and cannot be removed. If that is a concern for you, you should avoid Apple MagSafe devices, or any device that is designed for use with wireless charging as they all contain magnets.

The fact that no one here actually makes the products is irrelevant. This is a discussion forum.

Actually, this is NOT a discussion forum. If you read the Terms of Use you agreed to when you joined the forum, you'd understand this is a technical support forum for users to ask other users for help with their Apple products. No one here had anything to do with the design of the new phones. No one here can help you if you have a ICD pacemaker. Apple issued a statement on this. If the statement the provided is insufficient to you, discussing it here is pointless. Either take your concerns to Apple directly as they do not participate on this user to user only forum or find another product which better meets your health needs.

Wireless charging is possible without magnets

But the technologies that can wireless charge without using electromagnetic coils are typically more expensive and offer even more hazard to human health. Every single wireless charging consumer electronics product available currently uses magnets as it is currently seen as the safest of all.

Radioactive electromagnetic resonant charging and uncoupled radio frequency (RF) wireless charging have more concerns about risk when applied to consumer electronics in people’s homes. The latter in particular only seems to make any sense for very large, high power devices like factory forklifts or electric cars.

Yes, all forms of wireless charging produce EMF fields of varying strength. Radio frequency charging can produce even stronger EMF fields, over greater distances, then current magnetic inductance chargers do. It’s also proven difficult to downsize for use with consumer products although new mm wave length tech may solve that (but raises issue about interference with 5G bandwidths). It’s also not necessarily a very efficient way to beam power to devices.

Radio frequency charging technologies have existed for a century now, yet they have not yet made any real inroads into in home consumer electronics, nor have been widely adopted anywhere in any industry. Part of that is because it’s an unknown risk to human health since the EMF fields from radio frequency wireless charging would be much stronger than anything emitted by any current consumer product. So companies have been struggling to convince safety regulators to certify their proposed products.

Seeing that Apple is so focused on keeping people healthy, I am really surprised that they would be so negligent when it comes to their MagSafe technology. As someone that requires a pacemaker, I am not sure I will be able to continue to support Apple, especially considering I originally wanted the iPhone 12 but now I am glad I didn't upgrade. What really disappoints me is that since the company is so big, they may take little notice or care for those who wish to continue using their products because the impact that our purchases make are pennies in the bucket.
