CRG9 with MBP

Has anyone had any luck with their CRG9 waking up when connected with the diplayport cable? I, like many people, have to unplug it from the MBP every time for it to wake up. This is annoying in the short term but also a lot of wear and tear when I do it 5-6 times a day. If I use a USB-C/HDMI cable it does wake for me but this is less than desirable from a resolution standpoint as it is then a 1080 monitor, and there is a noticeable difference for me.

I made it a point to focus on this today and have tried the HDMI and DisplayPort cables multiple times. I have put the MBP to sleep and tried waking it as well as restarting it. The issue I had with the HDMI cable was that the resolution was less than acceptable as I paid for 5K. I don't know what was done, but at some point with a restart the MBP upped the resolution from the HDMI cable to 4K which is an acceptable resolution although only at 60hz. I can still notice a little loss from 5K to 4k but it is better than having to pull the cable every time. I would still like for my DP cable with 5K resolution to work so if anyone figures this out please let me know.
