Siri is too slow

Using 11pro with latest OS 14 updates and hey Siri near useless like she’s in a coma in another building. Used to use it all the time so what’s going on? When will an update address this issue?

I recently tried repeatedly to get her to answer and finally insulted her. And that woke her up but only enough to say. ‘I won’t respond to that!”

switching to another Siri persona didn’t help. I loved Siri on my old SE. and never cursed at her.

randomdogs,

Thanks for testing everything a little further.

You can next try restoring the iPhone to factory settings: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings. Just be sure to create a backup as suggested in "Get Your Device Ready". Restoring your iPhone puts a full complete version of the current iOS on your device. Once restored, test Siri again.

If you still notice the issue, there may indeed be an issue with the mic. And in that case we'd advise visiting Contact Apple Support.

Cheers,

I checked settings to make sure everything was turned on, turned up. Compared settings with my old SE, on which Siri worked perfectly, rebooted, tried it running over cellular, wifi.

On my old SE I used hey, siri all the time like while working in the garden or walking the dog: Hey, Siri take a note: Get more dog food, while driving Hey, Siri Call Jon: at home. It was one of the most useful features.

But now it usually doesn't respond at all. I can yell, speak normally, whisper, I even tried a different language.

I noticed others have had this issue as well with later OS updates.

Actually when I insulted Siri and she answered, if only to say she wouldn't respond, I was stunned. I had a brief momentary thought that maybe I just needed to wake her up.

The really mystifying part is where she--or he, after our tiff i switched to the South African guy--sometimes answers right away.
