Thanks to os11.2 I can't use my brother printer

No printer driver for OS11.2 on my expensive brother printer HL-L6200DWT. Now when I try to print a Huge job with mixed paper sizes I cannot. This will hurt my business. I will never ever get another MacBook if you guys cannot keep drivers between companies compatible. $2000 for a MacBook and $400 for a printer and they are absolutely useless. Brother blames Apple. Apple blames Brother. Then they both blame Adobe Acrobat Reader DC which does not even have support where you can talk to someone. This is BS

This is not a wireless printer. You need to connect the printer using a USB cable. Download the driver for your macOS version, https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hll2320d_us_as&_ga=2.99702558.1811015841.1614545566-2144182690.1614545566, and connect the printer via. USB to the Mac.

Now, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Select the Brother and hit "-". Now, hit "+" > Select the printer and select the driver for "Use".

Cheers,

Jack

Hi,

The Brother MFC-J775DW does not appear to be a printer working with the driverless AirPrint technology (About AirPrint - Apple Support), so you would have to try another way. The printer manufacturer suggests using Brother iPrint&Scan if AirPrint is not supported (https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=us_ot&lang=en&prod=mfcj775dw_us&os=10065).

If nothing else helps, you could perhaps take a look at the macOS Catalina 10.15 printer driver (https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=us_ot&lang=en&prod=mfcj775dw_us&os=10060). However, any use of this driver under macOS Big Sur would be unsupported and purely experimental. It may not work at all. There is always a certain risk involved with an experiment. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out. You may have to erase and reinstall everything on the computer. A hardware problem is unlikely, but it is impossible to guarantee anything. If you proceed, make sure that you know exactly what you are doing (and do not do anything unless multiple backup copies of important files are available).

Also, it may not be a bad idea to reset the printing system before tests.

If there is a problem printing via USB, try a network (Wi-Fi) connection instead.

Yes... after you have downloaded the airprint app from the app store and installed it, try resetting the printing system.. ( link coming up)

https://appletoolbox.com/airprint-not-working-fix-for-no-airprint-printers-found-on-ipad-ipod-iphone/#How_To_Reset_AirPrint_Printing_System_on_your_MacBook

did you also do the firmware update on the printer itself?? Finally... did you try the old standby fix... unplug the printer from the power.., wait about a minute... and then plug it in again.. and press the power button to turn it on?? Sometimes that fixes things.., don’t ask me why... it just does.. apart from that... gutenprint..

Shouldn’t matter... try using Bonjour... printer should be turned on... it’s a USB printer...Brother sez, with Big Sur (mac os 11, if your machine supports it, use AirPrint...the iPrint and scan app mentioned is for mobile devices ONLY, eg iphone, ipad, kindle fire, windows phone, Android and BlackBerry..0

anyways-HERE is the printer driver for mac os 11>>>>>👀

https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=ca&lang=en&prod=hll2320d_us_as&os=10060

use that... please note. This is a usb printer...so connect it up to your mac via USB 2.0 ( standard usb 2.0 B to A printer cable will work fine... airprint only works if it’s setup on your Mac and for that you need to make sure wifi is turned on and then do the bonjour thing... and add printer via IP... man alive this is getting mighty complicated !!! Usually under system prefs>>> print/print, fax>>> you would go to add a printer, and make sure at the top right of the add a printer screen, it’s set to USB... then click the plus button... the name of the little rascal should show up, eg, Brother -HLL 2320D, then U click on “OK”... to reset printing system on any mac... go to print window, where U see the printer... any pending jobs, status, etc... you should see a big [+] and a big [ - ] button. Using the mouse/trackpad, move the cursor (the arrow,) over to the [+] button. hold down either the Shift button or the Option button on your keyboard while clicking on the [+] with your mouse at the same time... you should see “reset printing system”. Say “OK” to that...

and let’s see about Gutenprint, shall we???... oh, i am surprised.! .. i thought it would install and work well in Catalina (10.15) and up... apparently it’s iffy... catalina breaks support for anything 32 bit at all... it has to be 64 bit or it won’t run at all... oh rats... anyways... i’ve beaten this dead horse enough... y’all making my brain hurt, so i’m a-leaving
