MacBook Pro Touch Bar - black area on right side of bar

I have a 2018 13" MacBook Pro. The Touch Bar has a black area on the right side of the bar extending approx 5/8" from the power button/fingerprint sensor. The area that is black registers touch (it usually is the space the Siri button is located) and responds immediately, but it is completely black. I can see a partial button (again, probably the Siri button) extending out approx 1/16" to the left of the blacked-out area. The black area is consistent when the Bar changes (function keys changing for different applications, etc).

I have restarted my computer; I updated to Big Sur last night and restored from a Time Machine backup. I had to completely delete my hard drive partition (also have a Boot Camp partition) before I could update to Big Sur. I have reset the SMC, used Terminal to restart the Control Strip numerous times. I am not sure what else to try.

It feels like a physical failure in the hardware but wasn't sure if there is something else I can pursue. Maybe someone has some ideas.

if no resolve resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Then try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
