MacBook Pro Touch Bar - black area on right side of bar

The area that is black registers touch (it usually is the space the Siri button is located) and responds immediately, but it is completely black. I have restarted my computer; I updated to Big Sur last night and restored from a Time Machine backup. I had to completely delete my hard drive partition (also have a Boot Camp partition) before I could update to Big Sur. I have reset the SMC, used Terminal to restart the Control Strip numerous times. I am not sure what else to try.

It feels like a physical failure in the hardware but wasn't sure if there is something else I can pursue. Maybe someone has some ideas.
