Files/folders in Dropbox won't stay locked

I've noticed an oddity in Big Sur: files/folders located in ~/Dropbox won't stay locked. I choose 'lock' from the Finder's inspector, but it won't stay applied to anything in Dropbox - the 'locked' checkbox shows a checkmark for a second or two, then clears itself. Anyone else finding this?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Brian!

We understand you're having trouble locking folders within the Dropbox folder. We'd be happy to provide information about this.

This is likely related to the folders either being synced between Dropbox and your Mac or because they're within the ~/ directory on your Mac. If you test other folders within this directory do they lock? You can also test to see if folders will lock within any other path such as Downloads.

Let us know the results of these tests.

Have a great day!
