app updates

Recently purchased a pre-owned Mac with several photo/video editing apps that the previous owner purchased. Knowing these apps were already installed, was one of the main reasons I chose to purchase this computer. However, here is the issue....

I cannot update the apps (as prompted by the AppStore) as it seems these apps are only allowing the previous owners' Apple ID to populate that sign in field.


Is there a work around? All other information of the previous owner was wiped prior to my purchase.


Hoping not to have to use these apps "as is" without updating, or worse yet, to delete them all together and lose access.

Those purchases are tied to the other ID and can't be transferred. One option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired. If necessary, check your purchases history to see which apps/purchases weren’t made by the current ID.
