Verification failed

I just got a Mac book pro and when I log in with my Apple ID it’s says- “Verification Failed. There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server.” What do I do now to remedy this?

Verification Failed message I cannot login to Apple ID on MacBook Air. I can login on websites (ex. apple icloud). When I attempt to login on macbook, I get a message that says "verification failed." I contacted apple support and had someone call me. They said they thought it was related to my home internet connection? Why do I keep getting verification failed, an unknown error occurred, when trying to sign in to my Apple ID? why do i keep getting verification failed, an unknown error occurred, when trying to sign in to my apple id on system preferences on my MacBook Pro, i can sign in to all my devices, but not my MacBook , all my contacts disappeared too. I can sign into iCloud through their website and apple id on apple website. I changed my password about 20 times now and am losing patience, thank you [Re-Titled by Moderator]
