MacBook Air 2020 Intel i3 8Gb

l'm absolutely disappointed with the heating and the work stability of this laptop. Previously, I was using my MacBook Air 2015' with i5 and 8Gb, and, in fact, I consider the last one (2015) to be much better than the new one (2020).

I do hate annoying: "the webpage is using significant memory and quiting it may make your Mac run better". Apple, I paid for my MacBook 1000 Euros, are you trying to tell me that, propably, I shouldn't use my MacBook at all just for "MacBook could run better"???

(btw, I don't understand a sense of this notification at all as if I'm surfing the website probably I'm searching for something and I won't close it???)

I'm just watching videos and films (for ex. Netflix) online and MacBook Air 2020 turns on its coolers, and, in fact, high heating had started after 1-2 months after purchase.

I'm just a student, so, I don't edit photos and videos, just using laptop with Pages and Keynote apps, nothing really special, MacBook does it quite well, but temperatures around 80-100 Celsius degrees in the top of the keyboard shows incorrect engineering, and, I guess as we all know that with higher temperatures on processeur other parts of Mac are likely to be worker incorrectly or even get broken sooner than in previous models. Really scared of it!!! I'm highly unsatisfied and I can't even return it to Apple!

Hello gleb209,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities! We understand that you're having trouble with the temperature of your new Mac, and alerts when browsing the web that the website is using too much memory. For the heat, take a look at this guide and steps it contains: Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures

For the website alert, is this happening in Safari? If so, check to see if you have extensions installed? If so, turn those off to see if that helps with the alert. Those steps can be found under "How to turn off or uninstall extensions" here: How to install Safari extensions on your Mac

The steps here may also help: Safari troubleshooting on Mac

Let us know how it goes.

Take care.

I have a 2020 Intel MacBook Air with a Core i5, I rarely hear my fan run except when installing an upgrade or update. Some web sites do trigger a warning in Safari but it's more about the page consuming a lot of memory. Depends on how and what you watch in terms of video. If you watch everything maxed out at 4K then yes you probably will hear the fan. Intel says max temp that is acceptable is 100c so what you are experiencing isn't abnormal. Might not be acceptable to you, but those temperatures would not be out of the question given the CPU is probably maxed out. The i3 is a duel core chip by the way not a quad core, so it tends to work harder overall and produce more heat.
