Purchasing Older versions of Mac Apps

This should be stupid simple. I'm running Mojave. I go to the app store, select the software I want, in this case Apple Motion, and download the correct version that runs on my OS. But NOOO! I get an error message that says I need MacOS 10.15 or later. Why? I could go to Catalina, but I'm happing with my machine running the way it is. I don't want the headache of upgrading and replacing software until I have to. If I had previously purchased Motion compatible with Mojave, I would be able to download it again if I had restored my machine. So why is it so hard to just let me purchase the latest version?

Can someone please tell me how to download the most recently compatible version of Motion for Mojave? Thank you.

Thank you gentleman for answering my question.

@David. I don't have another computer running something newer. So what you are saying is that someone who's only Mac computer that can't run the latest version of MacOS, can't buy compatible older versions of Apple's soft ware. [I found that thread in a previous search. I'm still incredulous that is the only solution. An amoeba could write the code to select the proper version of compatible software for the operating system in used. If the app is sitting there to redownload than it's available for new purchase also.]

@Luis, sorry, I wasn't clear. I just went to purchase Motion first time to add to my editing set up. No reason yet to upgrade a working setup. This may force the issue and I'm not happy. It's a 2015 MBP and Catalina is the last version I can install on it. Upgrading Mojave to purchase Motion forces upgrade costs to the remaining 32 bit apps that all work fine for me. [I know, I know, it's the nature of the system. I've been through it enough times. 🤬]

Thanks again for your answers. I read the December thread again and see that the options were pretty clear. It was late last night and I missed the very explicit explanations. Teach me to go "shopping" when I'm tired.

Apologies for ranting here.
