Mac Book Pro Trackpad acting weird?

Hello, I have a 13inch 2017 macbook pro which has worked perfectly up until this year. I started having issues with the track pad where it would on one click, click about 10 times and than be hard to click? My laptop has also been heating up very easily despite the fact that I have cleaned it and removed all unneccessary programs. I also work on a cooling pad at the moment to see if it will help which it does to a certian extent although the track pad still clicks all over the place. Does anyone know why this may be? If it is a hardware problem or not?
