Apple TV freezes when we rewind or pause a show or movie

Apple tv has some great content, audio and video is great. When we rewind a show, the video starts to pixelate. Sometimes we can pause it for 15 seconds or so and it plays OK, other times we have to start the program over. Have several steaming services, Prime, Netflix, HBO Max, and 1 GB internet service, the apple TV is the only one that does this. Happens whenever we rewind a program. Does this on an LG tv and amazon firestick.

From your post, it's understood your Apple TV pixelates whenever you rewind or pause movies. We'd like to help. How is your Apple TV connected to the internet? If using Wi-Fi, be sure that interference isn't an issue and some helpful router settings:


Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference


Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points


Does this happen with all movies? What type of resolution are the movies? Does lower resolutions have this issue?


Are you able to connect the Apple TV to ethernet if you haven't already. Test to see if the same thing occurs.

We try to use ethernet whenever we can, seems to make no change.

We have gigabit service.

Apple has really high end video UHD 4K, and audio to match.

It is understandable there may be some issues, but it us fairly constant.

We have Prime and Netflix, 4K and UHD videos do not have that problem.

If I remember correctly, I think it is with See the most.

BTW, the intro, audio and video for SEE are great.

Quality stuff, thanks.


Sometimes if I rewind and try to play, the audio is OK, but the aidio is fine, but the video stops and starts.

Once and a while, I can get out of it by paudsing it for 10 seconds or so.

This is on an LG TV.
