Apple iMac 5k late 2015 - pink edges, screen ghosting and grey corners

Hello,

my computer has been recently showing pink tinting / pink edges visible while a white display is present. At the same time, image ghosting has become visible as well as dark smudges in the corners of the screen appeared, as seen in the pictures below.

I have contacted Apple support (101311929747) and was advised to send my PC for service diagnostics, which I did. After diagnostics at SWISS (local authorized service center for Apple, in Slovakia), I was told the diagnostics has shown a faulty display. Repair not being possible, a new display purchase was suggested at the cost of 872.40 €, incl. service fee.

My iMac serial number is C0***G7N, the PC was purchased in Feb 2016.

Since this machine cost 2.500 Eur new, I consider a faulting display manufacturer's responsibility. Therefore, I would like to ask for confirmation such repair costs would be reimbursed fully.

Thank you in advance for getting back to me,

Peter

Peter,

We are all end users on these forums, Apple does not read or participate in these forums. They are simply our hosts. I would recommend starting by calling AppleCare AppleCare contact Information and requesting to speak to a customer advocate. A 2015 computer is now 6 years old and far out of Apple's 1 year warranty and AppleCare if you had that coverage. You may want to research consumer laws in your area and see if there are any that would cover Apple paying for a repair.

Good luck.

PS, I asked the moderators to remove your SN info, it is not wise to post private information on a public forum. Private info can be serial numbers, e-mail addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers etc...

Oh, I was not aware of that. Sorry, I thought this was one of the ways to get in touch. I'll try again the contact center then.

Regarding the age of the PC - is this considered usual, that a PC which I bought specifically for the quality of its screen, becomes faulty on its own? Ever since I purchased it, I ran screen savers, had it turned off after few minutes of inactivity, to make sure its lifetime be adequate. Would I have experienced these issues sooner if I had not done it? I've had plenty of different machines before, never had such a problem.

Thanks for getting back to me :)
