I’m having mic issues first with my iPhone 7 Plus, and now my (first generation) AirPod’s mic isn’t working either. Please can somebody explain to me what’s going on?

Start here:
Get help with the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
For your AirPods, try this:
Open the Settings app and go to the Bluetooth section. Next to the AirPods entry on the list of devices, you should see an “i” icon inside of a circle. Tap this, then select microphone, and set it to either left, right or automatic. Try switching it back and forth.
Then, test with the Voice Memos app.
