bluetooth "not available"

holding option + shift while clicking the bluetooth icon only gives "open packet logger". There's is not way to reset bluetooth. Others have suggested water damage on the bluetooth sensor, but that's not the issue.

Hi ineilh,

We're happy to help with the Bluetooth showing "not available" on your Mac.

Since trying to reset the Bluetooth module didn't provide the expected results, let's run an Apple Diagnostic instead:

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

If the test determines a hardware issue with Bluetooth:

Mac Service and Repair

If the test shows Bluetooth passes, try using a different user profile to see if you can connect a Bluetooth device. If you do not have another user profile already, here's how to make one:

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

You can also start up in safe mode to see if that makes a difference. It may take longer to finish the start up, as safe mode does some system checks, and can sometimes resolve issues. You'll also see some differences in the display. This is expected with safe mode, and when you restart normally, they'll be gone.

How to use safe mode on your Mac

For additional assistance with the Bluetooth issue, we'd recommend contacting Apple Support: Get Support

Take care!
