iPhone 12 mini rings once then fades to no sound

My iPhone mini rings once then fades to no sound on second ring. Why is that?

Try disabling 'Attention Aware Features' in Settings > FaceID & Passcode. It is enabled by default as to lower or quiet alerts etc as soon as you are looking at the device.
