Iphone 12 mini won't sync to Macbook Pro

I have a new Iphone 12 mini that replaced my Iphone 6. I am using a Macbook Pro mid 2012 running High Sierra Version 10.13.6.

I cannot get Itune to recognize the Iphone 12 mini. It does recognize my Ipad Mini.

I went to System Information and can see the Iphone under the USB tab but it doesn't show up in finder or as a device in Itunes.

I can see the device as being on my Apple Icloud account.

Any suggestions to how I can get the Iphone 12 Mini to be recognized on my computer? Thanks!

I saw where someone suggested going to the Apple site and re downloading Itunes which I did.

DO NOT uninstall the existing Itunes but load the new one to the computer. I did that and after it updated it saw my Iphone.

So thanks to anyone looking for a solution.

I hope this helps someone having a similar issue.
