Carplay: phone call audio and music simultaneously!

I upgraded to iOS 14.4 and my JVC KW-M740BT car audio player started behaving strangely.

I am connected using Carplay. While playing a song from USB, I attempt to make a phone call. In previous versions of iOS, the music would be stopped and phone dialing tones should be played on the speakers.

With the new iOS, the dialing tone is heard on speakers (music stops), but as soon as the call connects (shows on car player display _and_ the phone), the other party's voice is heard only on the phone. _The music from USB restarts!_

Did any change happen in the Carplay protocol in this version?

Anyone have any ideas? This car player has been working with iOS 12.x and 13.x

We understand that when using CarPlay with your device connected via USB and making a call, when the call connects the audio is heard from the iPhone and music starts playing through your speakers again. Thanks for the reply.

I have tried:

Shutting down and restarting the phone
Ensured I have installed the latest iOS version (14.4)
Tapped Carplay > 'Forget this car' in Carplay and set up again
Ensured Settings > Accessibility > Touch > 'Call Audio Routing' is set to automatic
Ensured I have the latest car player firmware (April 2019 version)
Tried another USB cable

These did not help.

The same car worked with my (now dead) iPhone 5s with iOS 12.x and still

works with wife's iPhone 7 with iOS 14.3

Doesn't seem to be a car player problem.
