Macbook Air M1 brightness issue

I find the screen brightness of my 2020 M1 MacBook Air to be very unstable. Have tried all the so called fixes and nothing works. Whatever you set it at it always reverts to 100% brightness. Typically with any Mac I like a screen brightness of ca 45-50%. Find this necessary when processing photographic images in software.

Think it is probably down to Apple to come up with a software update to fix the problem. Without a fix, my laptop is pretty much useless for photo processing.

I have exacly the same issue. I want my brightness to be at 50%, but every time i reboot it goes up a notch... 60 than 70 than 80 untill it gets stuck at 100%... It does not stay at 50%... I don't want full brightness i want 50% usually...

Having the same stupid issue with display brightness on my M1 MBP since day one and the same regardless of battery power or mains power.

Keep hoping that with every OS update this will be fixed but so far no luck. Totally paranoid about mine and constantly checking what level its at during the working day.

Seems like many of the moaning is from photographers (me to) and probably the reason why its not been reported much as most probably just use as 100% brightness.

Seems like a very minor fix, just wish it would be bumped up the priority fix list at Apple considering how the M1 machines are being pushed to content creators because of their video editing muscle.

I am having almost the same issue. But mine is a bit different. Sometimes when I put my mac air m1 to sleep, When I open the lid its dimmed. however when you unlock it does not change to its normal brightness I need to manually click the brightness bar in the control center so for it to get back to its normal state (brightness). It doesn't happen most of the time but it's a bit bothering.

It looks like its never going to be fixed then at least in Big Sur and hope it doesn't carry over into Monterey.......

Just updating my M1 MBP at the moment and will check the sound issue and report back.

Perhaps it isn't being reported as much as it should because perhaps the vast majority of people either have their M1 MBA set to full blinding brightness all the time or they have enabled "auto everything".

I tried to rapport this to apple by their chat help desk. I was connected to a shoulder tap robot telling me i did a great job trying to resolve my issue. than the advice was to boot in safe mode and all should be fixed. This obviously did not work.

I am uncertain if it is possible at all to rapport something to a human being at apple.

No fix has been seen yet. What's odd with mine, is sometimes

it boots up with the brightness maxed and sometimes a little

less than max but never the level I must set it at every time.

I have this exactly problem too. I set the brightness to 50%, restart/shut down and it's goes back 2 bars above.

Macbook Pro M1 with Big Sur 11.4.

Didn't got fixed here either... Maybe they should start shipping their laptops with sunglasses...
